This early gelatin silver print, on stiff double-weight paper with a velvety matte surface, is in overall good to very good condition. Age-appropriate silver is visible in raking light at the edges of the image. Upon close inspection, scattered hairline scratches and impressions are visible. The right edge of the image is somewhat darker than the rest of the print. This photograph is printed with thick upper and lower margins and a very thin left margin. A 3/4-inch crease at the upper right margin corner extends into the image and appears to break the emulsion. There is an isolated thin area of emulsion loss along the right edge. The margins are soiled and worn, and there are tack holes in the corners. The reverse is soiled and there are scattered brown deposits, possibly foxing.
